Welcome to the fGate Project

The fGATE project will enhance the development and the use of the GATE software, dedicated to the simulation of emission tomography.

GATE has been developed since 2001 by a consortium of international labs without any specific financial support, and has been publicly released in 2004.

GATE is currently used by more than 1000 users.

The aim is that GATE becomes a standard resource for Monte Carlo simulations in emission tomography worldwide. To do so, 4 actions will be undertaken during the fGATE project:

  1. The computational efficiency of GATE will be enhanced (increase of simulation efficiency by 1 to 2 orders of magnitude)
  2. Modeling clinical studies will be made more user-friendly, with the ability to easily model dynamic processes such as motions and tracer kinetics.
  3. The feasibility of the modelling of clinical and preclinical scans will be demonstrated, together with the usefulness of such simulations.
  4. Training will be organized so that any interested person can learn how to install and use GATE in an efficient manner.
